She held on tightly to the crucifix, taking hope in the fact that it wasn't burning her hand.  She closed her eyes and prayed...

Could she have seen herself in a mirror, her hopes would have been dashed as she continued to grow more and more pale as the venom spread throughout her body, feasting on her humanity.  She was beginning to wonder about the feeling in her mouth when she was startled by the sound of his voice.

"Ah, my dear, what a lovely cross you have there.  May I take a closer look."

She held it out towards him, but he did not even flinch.  He accepted it, admiring the artist's handiwork.

"So lovely, just like you, my daughter to be.  Come, drink from me and complete your change."

"How can you...?"

"How can I handle the cross?  I was an Orthodox priest before I answered my new calling.  But enough of that.  Come, smile for me."

She couldn't resist his words, and smiled.  Feeling her newly formed fangs against her lips, she opened wider.

"Yes, my darling girl, you look even more beautiful now.  Come.  Come and drink."

She went to him, unable to resist, and licked her lips as he opened his collar.  She welcomed the feel of his strong hand as it guided her head to the proper place.  Surrendering to the inevitable, she closed her eyes and bit.  Her ecstasy increased with each swallow.

When she moaned with pleasure, he smiled.

"Now you are truly one of us.  Welcome."
